Warehouse Automation for Automotive and Manufacturing Industries

Warehouse Automation for Automotive and Manufacturing Industries

Automotive, motor, and rail manufacturing operations run on sequenced supply — the right component must arrive at the right workstation at the right time. A late or incorrect delivery stops the line. An overstocked buffer area ties up capital and floor space.

QDITC's automation solutions for manufacturing connect storage directly to the production flow. From small fasteners to large stamped or machined components, materials are managed in a single system that sequences supply to the assembly line, buffers semi-finished goods between stations, and maintains inventory accuracy without manual counting.

Industry challenge

Warehouse challenges in the automotive industry

Automotive Industry Supply Chain Pressures

  • Component supply chain volatility (including semiconductor shortages) directly affects production scheduling and throughput targets
  • Electrification transition requires manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers to manage legacy and new-platform components in parallel
  • OEM quality control requirements make component traceability and batch tracking a mandatory — not optional — system function
  • Recall risk makes it critical to identify and locate all affected components by batch, date, or supplier origin within hours, not days

Solutions for automotive components

QDITC connects the storage system directly to the production line via conveyor or AGV. When a workstation requests a component, the WMS triggers retrieval, the storage unit delivers the item to the transfer point, and the conveyor or AGV completes delivery to the station — without manual transport at any stage. For outbound and shipping operations, finished goods or sub-assemblies are automatically moved from workstations to intermediate storage, then to the dispatch area in the required sequence.

Solution

1

High-volume retrieval — fully automated, no manual bottleneck

The automated system processes large retrieval volumes in continuous operation. The integrated WMS provides real-time inventory levels, long-term stock overview, and replenishment alerts — so production planning has accurate material availability data at all times.

2

Just-in-time and just-in-sequence delivery to the assembly line

Storage is connected to the production line via conveyor or AGV. The system delivers components to the correct workstation in the required sequence — supporting JIT and JIS supply without manual transport between storage and production.

3

Lockable storage — access control for valuable tooling and components

High-value components, tooling, and gauges are stored in lockable units with role-based access control. Unauthorized retrieval is prevented at the system level — not dependent on physical supervision.
